Delete your account

You can permanently delete your account on The Spot at any time. This page exists so the Apple App Store, Meta (Facebook Login), and applicable privacy laws can confirm we offer both an in-app deletion path and an out-of-app deletion path for users who can no longer access the app.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (preferred)

  1. Open The Spot.
  2. Go to the Profile tab.
  3. Tap the gear icon → Account.
  4. Tap Delete account.
  5. Confirm twice.

The deletion is processed immediately. Most of your data is removed at the moment you confirm; backup snapshots are purged within 90 days.

⚠️ Once deleted, your account cannot be recovered. Your matches lose the ability to see your profile. Any active App Store subscription will continue billing until you cancel it from your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Option 2 — Email request

If you can’t access the app — for example, you’ve lost your phone, your account was suspended, or you can no longer log in — email us at:

Include:

  • The email or Facebook name associated with your account.
  • Your first name as it appears on your profile.
  • Whether you want a full deletion or just deactivation.

We will:

  • Acknowledge your request within 3 business days.
  • Verify your identity (we may ask for a selfie matching your profile photo).
  • Complete the deletion within 30 days of verification.
  • Confirm completion via email.

What gets deleted

  • Your profile, photos, and preferences.
  • Your matches (other users will no longer see you).
  • Your “going out tonight” history and invite history.
  • Your matches, likes, and passes.
  • Your authentication record (Facebook / Apple).
  • Your subscription record (see billing note below).

What we may retain

  • Identity verification record for up to 2 years to prevent banned users from creating new accounts.
  • Compliance records (e.g., legal holds, fraud investigations) for up to 7 years where required by law.
  • Anonymized analytics — aggregate usage data with no link back to you.

What we cannot delete for you

  • App Store subscriptions. You must cancel these in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. We have no ability to cancel them.
  • Facebook permissions. You can revoke The Spot’s permission in Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites.
